Ethernet Cables
Ethernet Cables
Ethernet connections for a dedicated service LAN require Category 5 unshielded
twisted pair (UTP) cables.
SWAN Concentrator Restriction
Isolate any ServerNet wide area networks (SWANs) on the system. The system
must be equipped with at least two LANs: one LAN for SWAN concentrators and
one for the dedicated service LAN.
Most SWAN concentrators are configured redundantly using two or more subnets.
Those subnets also must be isolated from the dedicated service LAN.
Do not connect SWANs on a subnet containing a DHCP.
System-Up Dedicated Service LAN
When the system is up and the OS running, the ME connects to the NonStop NS1000
system’s dedicated service LAN using one of the PIFs on each of two G4SAs. This
connection enables OSM Service Connection and OSM Notification Director
communication for maintenance in a running system.
For a fault-tolerant dedicated service LAN, two G4SAs are required, with one
connected to each ServerNet fabric, X and Y. These G4SAs can reside in modules 2
and 3 of the same IOAM enclosure. When the G4SA provides connection to the
IOAM enclosures Dynamic

*If both dynamic and static IP addresses are used in the LAN configuration, HP recommends that the
maintenance switches be configured with static IP addresses.
**You do not need to reconfigure the IP addresses for the TCP/IP processes.
