Blade Complex
Blade Complex
The basic building block of the NSVA is the blade complex, which consists of rx2620
servers that are also referred to as blade elements. Each blade element houses one
microprocessor called a processor element (PE).
All input to and output from each blade element occurs through a ServerNet PCI
adapter card located in each blade element. The ServerNet PCI adapter card
interfaces with the ServerNet fabrics.
This diagram provides an overview of the modular NSVA and shows four blade
elements with ServerNet connections, the I/O hardware, and links to external I/O and
storage:
In the event of a processor fault, the failed component within a blade element (fan or
power supply) or the entire blade element can be replaced while the system continues
to run. A single Integrity NonStop NS1000 system can have up to eight blade elements
for a total of eight processors. Processors communicate with each other and with the
system I/O over dual ServerNet fabrics.
