Processor Element
the Integrity NonStop NS1000 server hardware, refer to the NonStop NS1000
Hardware Installation Manual.
Processor Element
The processor element (PE) in a blade element in an Integrity NonStop NS1000
system includes:
A standard Intel Itanium microprocessor running at 1.3 GHz with a 3-MB cache
4 or 8 GB of main memory partitioned from DDR SDRAM DIMMs
Failure Recovery for Integrity NonStop NS1000
System
A processor element might fail, but alternative paths exist for operation of user
applications. Failure of a complete blade element reduces the system to operation on
the running blade elements. The system remains available to the applications as if no
failure occurred.
ServerNet Fabric I/O
This subsection provides information about the ServerNet network in an Integrity
NonStop NS1000 system and covers these topics:
For further information on the ServerNet network, protocols, IP addresses, and naming
conventions, see the Introduction to Networking for Integrity NonStop NS-Series
Servers.
Overview
ServerNet 3 routers are used within the Integrity NonStop NS1000 system as building
blocks for the ServerNet fabric, which employ fiber-optic links exclusively and is a
collection of connected routers and links that form a flexible internal or external
network. This high-speed network within an Integrity NonStop NS1000 system logically
connects blade elements to the ServerNet adapters and system I/O such as disks and
Ethernet LANs by way of ServerNet switch boards in the IOAM enclosure. The
ServerNet switch boards in the IOAM enclosure provide logical connectivity to the
blade elements and I/O devices.
