I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) Enclosure and I/O Adapters
The IOAM enclosure provides the Integrity NonStop NS1000 server with its system I/O.
For a general description of the IOAM enclosure and I/O adapters, refer to the
NonStop NS-Series Planning Guide. Details about the use or implementation of the
IOAM enclosure and I/O adapters that are specific to an Integrity NonStop NS1000
server are presented here:
•
Only one IOAM enclosure is supported in an Integrity NonStop NS1000 server.
•
The group number for the IOAM enclosure is 100 in an Integrity NonStop NS1000
system.
•
The maintenance entity on the ServerNet switch board supports direct connections
to blade elements and ServerNet I/O adapters.
•
Up to four 4PSEs provide ServerNet connectivity to the blade elements.
•
Only 4PSEs are supported for installation in slots 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, and 3.2 of the IOAM
enclosure for an Integrity NonStop NS1000 server.
•
Up to six ServerNet I/O adapters are supported, and a minimum of two FCSAs and
two G4SAs must be installed. Fibre Channel ServerNet adapters (FCSAs) are
used for communicating with storage devices such as a Fibre Channel Disk
Module, tape devices, or an Enterprise Storage System (ESS) disk. Gigabit
Ethernet 4-port ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) are used for Ethernet connectivity.
•
FCSAs and G4SAs are supported for installation in slots 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.3, 3.4, and
3.5 of the IOAM enclosure for an Integrity NonStop NS1000 server.
•
In OSM, IOAM power supplies have actions to configure the power source as AC
or UPS in case of power failure.
Fibre Channel Disk Module
The Fibre Channel disk module (FCDM) is a storage device containing disk drives that
connect to an FCSA in an IOAM enclosure in an Integrity NonStop NS1000 server. For
a general description of the Fibre Channel disk module, refer to the NonStop NS-
Series Planning Guide. Details about the use or implementation of the Fibre Channel
disk module that are specific to an Integrity NonStop NS1000 server are presented
here.
