Cable Labeling
To identify correct cable connections to factory-installed hardware, every interconnect
cable has a plastic label affixed to each end. Extra sheets of preprinted labels that you
can fill in are also provided. These labels are attached to the cable and connector and
contain information about which enclosure and connector the cable is to connect.
This label identifies the cable connecting the p-switches at U31 of both cabinet 1 and 2
at slot 3, connectors 1 or 2, which are crosslink connections between the two
p-switches:
Each label conveys this information:
When you replace a cable and either install or move an enclosure, be sure to update
information on the labels at both ends of the cables.
Nn Identifies the node number. One node can include up to
six cabinets.
Rn Identifies the cabinet number within the node.
Un Identifies the offset that is the physical location of the
component within the cabinet. n is the lowest U number
in the cabinet that the component occupies.
nn.nn All but LSU: Identifies the slot location and port
connection of the component.
LSU: Identifies the position of the logic board and optics
adapter pair and the port connection of the optics
adapter.
Near Refers to the information for this end of this cable.
Far Refers to the information for the other end of this cable.
