Maintenance Switch (Ethernet)
Maintenance Switch (Ethernet)
The ProCurve 2524 maintenance switch includes management features that NSAA
requires and provides the communication between the Integrity NonStop NS16000
system at the switch boards in the p-switches and IOAM enclosure, and optional UPS
and the system console running HP NonStop Open System Management (OSM). The
maintenance switch includes 24 ports, which is enough capacity to support multiple
systems. The maintenance switch mounts in the modular cabinet, but no restrictions
exist for its placement.
This illustration shows an example of two maintenance switches installed in the top of
a cabinet:
Each system requires multiple connections to the maintenance switch:
•
One connection to each of the two ServerNet switch boards in one I/O adapter
module (IOAM) enclosure
•
At least two connections to any two of these devices for the OSM Service
Connection and OSM Notification Director:
•
Gigabit 4-port ServerNet adapter (G4SA) installed in an IOAM enclosure
•
An Ethernet 4 ServerNet adapter (E4SA), Fast Ethernet ServerNet adapter
(FESA), or Gigabit Ethernet ServerNet adapter (GESA) installed in a NonStop
S-series I/O enclosure equipped with IOMF 2 CRUs
•
One connection for each of the two p-switches
•
One connection to each of the optional UPS modules
•
One connection for each system console running OSM
The preferred configuration is connections to two maintenance switches:
•
Connect one of the two IOAM enclosure maintenance entities to each switch.
•
Connect the processor switch for the X fabric to one of the maintenance switches
and the processor switch for the Y fabric to the other maintenance switch.
