NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)

Two models of SAS disk enclosures are supported. This table describes the type of SAS disk
enclosures and shows compatibility between different CLIM and SAS disk enclosure models:

A Storage CLIM pair supports a maximum of 4 SAS disk enclosures. This maximum applies to all Storage CLIM types:
G2, G5, G6.
An MSA70 SAS disk enclosure supports 3Gbps SAS protocol. It contains:
Twenty–five 2.5” dual-ported disk drive slots
Two power supplies
Two fans
Two independent I/O modules:
SAS Domain A
SAS Domain B
NOTE: MSA70 SAS disk enclosures support SAS HDDs, but not SAS SSDs. MSA70 SAS disk
enclosures do not support the disk partitioning feature.
A D2700 SAS disk enclosure supports 6Gbps SAS protocol. It contains:
Twenty–five 2.5” dual-ported disk drive slots
Two power supplies
Two fans
Two independent I/O modules:
SAS Domain A
SAS Domain B
NOTE: With H06.23 and later RVUs, D2700 disk enclosures support the Disk Partitioning feature,
which allows a single SAS HDD or SAS SSD to be partitioned into multiple logical devices. See
the SCF Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem for details about disk partitioning.
With H06.24 and later RVUs, D2700 disk enclosures can contain HDDs or SSDs.
I/O Adapter Module (IOAM) Enclosure and I/O Adapters
An IOAM provides the Integrity NonStop NS16000 series system with its system I/O using Gigabit
4-port Ethernet ServerNet adapters (G4SAs) for LAN connectivity and Fibre Channel ServerNet
adapters (FCSAs) for storage connectivity.
