NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)
A G4SA can be configured as:
• Two 10/100/1000 Mbps copper ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper ports
• Two 10/100/1000 Mbps multimode fiber-optic ports and two 10/100 Mbps copper ports
A G4SA complies with the 1000 Base-T standard (802.3ab), 1000 Base-SX standard (802.3z),
and these Ethernet LANs:
• 802.3 (10 Base-T)
• 802.1Q (VLAN tag-aware switch)
• 802.3u (Auto negotiate)
• 802.3x (Flow control)
• 802.3u (100 Base-T and 1000 Base-T)
For detailed information on the G4SA, see the NonStop Gigabit Ethernet 4-Port Installation and
Support Guide.
Fibre Channel Disk Module
The Fibre Channel disk module is a rackmounted enclosure that contains:
• Up to 14 Fibre Channel arbitrated loop disk drives (enclosure front)
• Environmental monitoring unit (EMU) (enclosure rear)
• Fibre Channel arbitrated loop (FC-AL) modules (enclosure rear)
A Fibre Channel disk module connects to a FCSA in an IOAM enclosure. You can daisy-chain
together up to four Fibre Channel disk modules with 14 drives in each one. This illustration shows
a fully populated Fibre Channel disk module:
Tape Drive and Interface Hardware
For an overview of tape drives and the interface hardware, see “FCSA to Tape Devices” (page 79).
For a list of supported tape devices, refer to the NonStop Storage Overview manual.
Maintenance Switch (Ethernet)
The ProCurve maintenance switch includes management features that NS16000 series systems
require and provides the communication between the NS16000 series system at the switch boards
