NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)
Fault-Tolerant Configuration
Your HP-authorized service provider configures the dedicated service LAN as described in the
NonStop Dedicated Service LAN Installation and Configuration Guide. HP recommends that you
use a fault-tolerant LAN configuration. A fault-tolerant configuration includes these connections to
two maintenance switches:
• A system console to each maintenance switch
• One processor switch on the X fabric to the first maintenance switch
• One processor switch on the Y fabric to the second maintenance switch
• For every CLIM pair, connect the iLO and eth0 ports of the primary CLIM to one maintenance
switch, and the iLO and eth0 ports of the backup CLIM to the second maintenance switch.
The primary and backup CLIMs are defined, based on the CLIM-to-CLIM failover configuration.
NOTE: For more information about CLIM-to-CLIM failover, refer to the Cluster I/O Protocols
(CIP) Configuration and Management Manual.
• One of the two IOAM enclosure ServerNet switch boards to each maintenance switch
• If CLIMs are used to configure the maintenance LAN, connect the CLIM that configures $ZTCP0
to one maintenance switch, and connect the other CLIM that configures $ZTCP1 to the second
maintenance switch.
