NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)
Each p-switch (for the X or Y fabric) has up to six I/O PICs, with one I/O PIC required for each
IOAM enclosure in the system. Each NonStop S-series I/O enclosure uses one port and one PIC,
so a maximum of 24 NonStop S-series I/O enclosures can be connected to an Integrity NonStop
NS16000 series system if no IOAM enclosure is installed.
IOMF 2 CRU
The Integrity NonStop NS16000 series system is compatible with most disks and ServerNet adapters
contained in currently installed NonStop S-series I/O enclosures equipped with IOMF 2 CRUs.
I/O multifunction 2 (IOMF 2) CRUs, each equipped with an MMF PIC, are required for connecting
NonStop S-series I/O enclosures to Integrity NonStop NS16000 series systems.
To retain disk drives and adapters currently installed in NonStop S-series system enclosures, you
can convert these enclosures to NonStop S-series I/O enclosures, replacing the two PMF CRUs in
each enclosure with IOMF 2 CRUs. See the conversion instructions in the Authorized Service
Provider Hardware category of the Support and Service Library of NTL. For information on the
IOMF 2 CRUs, see the NonStop S-Series Planning and Configuration Guide.
NonStop S-Series Disk Drives and ServerNet Adapters
Disk drives and ServerNet adapters (except SEB, MSEB CRUs, ServerNet/FX and ServerNet/FX
2 adapters) installed in NonStop S-series I/O enclosures equipped with IOMF 2 CRUs, as well as
devices that are downstream of the enclosures, are compatible with the Integrity NonStop NS16000
series hardware, as long as the NonStop S-series I/O enclosure is properly connected to the
p-switches. For information on the NonStop S-series disk drives and ServerNet adapters, see the
NonStop S-Series Planning and Configuration Guide.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to use NonStop S-series SEB or MSEB CRUs in NonStop S-series I/O
enclosures connected to Integrity NonStop NS16000 series systems. System failure will result.
Migrating From a NonStop S-Series Systems to a NonStop NS16000
Series Systems
Topics described in this section include:
• “Migrating Applications” (page 162)
• “Migration Considerations” (page 163)
• “Migrating Hardware Products to Integrity NonStop NS16000 Series Servers” (page 163)
• “Other Manuals Containing Software Migration Information” (page 163)
Migrating Applications
The H-Series Application Migration Guide is the primary source of information for migrating
applications. It provides summaries, overviews, references to product-specific documentation where
appropriate, and information about:
• Source code changes required for C/C++, COBOL, and pTAL programs
• User library changes
• Changes in the application development environment, including compilers, linkers, and
debuggers
• Changes in native process architecture and process environment
• Changes required for independent products:
HP NonStop Server for Java◦
◦ HP NonStop CORBA
◦ HP NonStop Tuxedo
• How to get help with migration tasks, including assessment services and pilot (proof of concept)
service offered by HP
