NonStop NS16000 Series Planning Guide (H06.11+)
Migration Considerations
• SQL/MP objects that are present on disks installed in a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure are
not immediately usable after the enclosure is connected to an Integrity NonStop NS16000
series system. The file labels and catalogs must be updated to reflect the new system name
and number. You can use the SQLCI MODIFY command to update SQL/MP objects. Refer to
the migration information contained in the SQL Supplement for H-Series RVUs.
• G-series application programs that reside on a NonStop S-series I/O enclosure might require
migration changes to run on an Integrity NonStop NS16000 series system with an H-series
RVU. For more information, refer to the H-Series Application Migration Guide.
Migrating Hardware Products to Integrity NonStop NS16000 Series Servers
Connecting NonStop S-series hardware to an Integrity NonStop NS16000 series server is only
one step in the overall migration. Software and application changes might be required to complete
the migration.
Any hardware migration should be planned as part of the overall application and software migration
tasks.
The next subsections refer you to the documentation for tasks involved in physically moving IOAM
enclosures and NonStop S-series I/O enclosures to an Integrity NonStop NS16000 series server.
Moving IOAM Enclosures to NonStop NS16000 Series Servers
Moving an IOAM enclosure from a NonStop S-series server to an Integrity NonStop NS16000
series server is described in the NonStop NS16000 series Hardware Installation Manual.
Reusing NonStop S-Series I/O Enclosures and Processor Enclosures
You can reuse NonStop S-series enclosures and most of the ServerNet adapters and disk drives
they contain in your Integrity NonStop NS16000 series server.
Moving an IOAM enclosure from a NonStop S-series server to an Integrity NonStop NS16000
series server is described in the NonStop NS16000 Series Hardware Installation Manual.
