MMF cables are usually orange with a minimum bend radius of:
Unsheathed: 1.0 inch (25 millimeter)
Sheathed (ruggedized): 4.2 inch (107 millimeter)
You can use fiber-optic cables available from HP, or you can provide your own fiber-optic cables.
If you provide your own fiber-optic cables, follow the appropriate HP specification for the type of
cable you provide. You can obtain the specification from your HP product representative.

Verify that the link does not exceed the maximum allowable loss. Use a calibrated optics power
source to measure the optics power at the distant end of the cable and then calculate the attenuation.
Loss of 10.5 db or less is acceptable. Attenuation above 10.5 db might appear to work, but the
bit error rate might be unacceptable and require repairing or replacing the cable.
Connections from a p-switch to a Model 6780 cluster switch can use single-mode fiber-optic (SMF)
cabling.
Fiber-optic cables use either LC or SC connectors at one or both ends. This illustration shows the
connector pair for an LC fiber-optic cable:

Dedicated Service LAN Cables
The system uses Category 6 (CAT 6), unshielded twisted-pair Ethernet cables for the internal
dedicated service LAN and for connections between the G4SA and the application LAN equipment.
Category 5e (CAT 5e) cable is also acceptable.
