When to Use This Chapter

Use this chapter to learn about the following:

• Monitoring and performing recovery operations for the internal and external ServerNet fabrics

• How and when a NonStop NS-series system can be connected to legacy NonStop S-series

I/O enclosures

• ServerNet connectivity

NOTE: NonStop BladeSystems and NonStop NS16000 series systems support connectivity to

NonStop S-series I/O enclosures. NonStop BladeSystems, NonStop NS16000 series systems, and

NonStop NS14000 series systems can be part of the same ServerNet cluster as NonStop S-series

systems. For more information, see the ServerNet Cluster Supplement for NonStop NS-Series Servers

or the ServerNet Cluster Supplement for NonStop BladeSystems.

Commercial versions of NonStop NS2400 series, NS2300, NS2200 series, NS2100, NS2000

series, NS14000 series, NS1200, and NS1000 systems do not support connectivity to NonStop

S-series I/O enclosures. For more information, see “Differences Between NonStop NS-Series

Systems” (page 36).

NonStop NS2400 series, NS2300, NS2200 series, NS2100, NS2000 series, NS1200 and

NS1000 systems do not support ServerNet clusters.

NonStop BladeSystems and NonStop NS16000 series systems support the BladeCluster Solution

topology. BladeCluster is a type of ServerNet cluster. For hardware and software requirements,

refer to the BladeCluster Solution Manual.

• The BladeCluster Solution is available for NonStop BlardeSystems.

• The BladeCluster Solution is available for NonStop NS16000 series systems.

• 6770 ServerNet clusters and 6780 ServerNet clusters can co-exist with BladeCluster Solutions.
