NonStop Operations Guide for H-Series and J-Series RVUs

NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard
The NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard can be used to configure
DHCP, DNS, and BOOTP servers. DHCP and DNS servers are required for NonStop systems and
the CLIMs connected to these systems. BOOTP servers are only for the J-series NonStop
BladeSystems, NonStop NS2400 series, NS2300, NS2200 series, and NS2100 systems and
make the Halted State Services (HSS) files available for processors to boot from.
The NonStop Maintenance LAN DHCP DNS Configuration Wizard replaces the CLIM Boot Service
Configuration Wizard. It is delivered and installed on the system console as part of the OSM
Console Tools product, version T0634 ABB and later. For information on pre-requisites and installing
the wizard, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
NonStop NET/MASTER
NonStop NET/MASTER is used to integrate system and network management services. It serves
as an alternative to the ViewPoint console application.
NonStop Software Essentials
NonStop Software Essentials is an HP SIM plug-in that provides software installation and
management functionality for NonStop systems. NonStop Software Essentials uses DSM/SCM
server software and provides a replacement for the DSM/SCM Planner Interface tasks as well as
certain Host Maintenance Interface functions that is more secure, is easier to use, and overcomes
other shortcomings of DSM/SCM. NonStop Software Essentials coexists with DSM/SCM; you can
use either NonStop Software Essentials or DSM/SCM for tasks in which there is overlapping
functionality. For more information, see the NonStop Software Essentials Installation and Quick
Start Guide and the online help for NonStop Software Essentials.
NSKCOM and the Kernel-Managed Swap Facility (KMSF)
NSKCOM is the command interface to the Kernel-Managed Swap Facility (KMSF). NSKCOM
allows you to configure and manage permanently allocated swap files.
Onboard Administrator (OA)
The HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator (OA) provides details about alarms on NonStop
BladeSystem c7000 enclosure components. Invoke the HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator
(OA) URL via an action on the enclosure object in the OSM tree view.
OSM Product Suite
The HP Open System Management (OSM) product is the required system management tool for
NonStop NS-series systems and NonStop BladeSystems; they are not supported by TSM. For
NonStop BladeSystems, OSM works together with the Onboard Administrator (OA) and Integrated
Lights-Out (iLO) management interfaces to manage c7000 enclosures. OSM also works with HP
SIM to allow HP SIM to manage NonStop systems alongside other HP servers and storage from a
single user interface.
For more information on the OSM package, including a description of the individual applications,
see the OSM Configuration Guide and the OSM Service Connection User's Guide.
PATHCOM
PATHCOM is the interactive interface to the PATHMON process, through which users enter
commands to configure and manage Pathway applications.
PEEK
Use the PEEK program to gather statistical information about processor activity, system storage
pools, paging activity, message information, send instructions, and interrupt conditions.
