NonStop Operations Guide for H-Series and J-Series RVUs
NonStop NS-Series System Options
NonStop NS-series systems offer of a variety of architecture and configuration options to suit
different customer needs. For more information, see the appropriate planning guide for your
NonStop system.
For information about supported CLIMs or CLIM-attached storage (SAS disk drive enclosures), see
the planning guide for your NonStop system.
Differences Between NonStop NS-Series Systems
NonStop NS2400 Series Systems
NonStop NS2400 series systems are first released with J06.17. The NonStop NS2400 series
systems (NS2400/T/ST) differ from the NS2200 series systems as follows: .
• NonStop NS2400 series systems use a different blade element .
• NonStop NS2400 series systems has different memory options.
For more information about NonStop NS2400 series systems, refer to the NonStop NS2400 Series
Planning Guide
NonStop NS2300 Systems
The NonStop NS2300 system is first released with J06.17. The NonStop NS2300 system differs
from the NS2100 system as follows: .
• NonStop NS2300 system use a different blade element.
• NonStop NS2300 system has different memory options.
For more information about NonStop NS2300 system, refer to the NonStop NS2300 Planning
Guide
NonStop NS2200 Series Systems
NonStop NS2200 series systems use the NS2200 CPU, which has two microprocessor cores
enabled. NonStop NS2200 series systems have two VIO enclosures, one VIO enclosure for each
ServerNet fabric, and connections for processors 0-3 are made through ports 1-4 of the VIO Logic
Board in slot 14 of each VIO enclosure. For more information on NonStop NS2200 series systems,
refer to the NonStop NS2200 Series Planning Guide.
NonStop NS2200 series systems support connections to CLIMs and SAS disk drive enclosures.
NonStop NS2200 series systems do not support FCDMs, and they do not support connections to
NonStop S-series I/O enclosures.
The method for booting is also different from the method for NS2000 series systems. See “Starting
a System” for more information.
For more information on NonStop NS2200 series systems, refer to the NonStop NS2200 Series
Planning Guide.
NonStop NS2100 Systems
The difference between NonStop NS2200 series systems and NonStop NS2100 systems is that
in the NonStop NS2100 system the NS2100 CPU blade element has one microprocessor core
enabled. For more information on NonStop NS2100 systems, refer to the NonStop NS2100
Planning Guide.
NonStop NS2000 Series Systems
The difference between NonStop NS2200 series or NonStop NS2100 systems and NonStop
NS2000 series systems is that NonStop NS2000 series systems support different blade elements:
NonStop NS2000 series systems use NS2000 CPU blade elements, but NonStop NS2200 series
systems use NS2200 CPU blade elements, and NonStop NS2100 systems use NS2100 CPU
