Using HP SIM
HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) is the primary HP solution for using a single interface to
manage NonStop servers and storage as well as other HP servers. HP SIM provides a very high-level
display of overall system health for user-selected NonStop systems and NonStop system clusters.
It does not actively monitor these systems, but instead displays the system health information for
them that it receives from the NonStop Open System Management (OSM) software and several
of the HP SIM plug-in products.
The HP SIM plug-ins allow users to perform a variety of tasks: install and manage NonStop server
software, configure and control CLIMs from the Cluster I/O Protocols (CIP) subsystem, manage
clusters of NonStop systems, and monitor and manage temperature and power consumption for
NonStop BladeSystems NB54000c, NB54000c-cg, NB56000c, and NB56000c-cg. For more
information about the HP SIM plug-ins, see “Using the HP SIM Plug-Ins” (page 57) and HP SIM for
NonStop Manageability.
From the navigation pane in HP SIM, you can choose to view all or selected systems in a single
window, based on criteria such as system status, system type, and so forth. See Figure 1.
