NonStop Operations Guide for H-Series and J-Series RVUs
NonStop Cluster Essentials
The NonStop Cluster Essentials plug-in acts as a central integration point for cluster management.
It provides integrated cluster management for homogeneous clusters of NonStop systems or Unix
systems and for heterogeneous clusters of NonStop systems and Unix systems. It supports clusters
consisting of NonStop BladeSystems, NonStop NS-series systems, NonStop S-series servers and
optionally, Proliant systems running Linux.
After you discover a NonStop system from HP SIM, NonStop Cluster-specific pages are displayed
in HP SIM. The NonStop Clusters home page lists all NonStop clusters that have been configured.
The home page for an individual NonStop cluster shows all systems that are in that cluster.
For more information about installing NonStop Cluster Essentials, refer to the NonStop Cluster
Essentials Installation and Quick Start Guide. Once the NonStop Cluster Essentials plug-in is
installed, refer to the online help available from the NonStop Clusters home page for information
about using NonStop Cluster Essentials.
NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials
NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials is a plug-in to NonStop Cluster Essentials that monitors
homogeneous clusters of NonStop systems and heterogeneous clusters of NonStop and Linux
systems. With it, you can monitor the performance of individual NonStop or Linux systems or
clusters of them, using the HP SIM and NonStop Cluster Essentials user interfaces. NonStop Cluster
Performance Essentials provides these key features:
• Performance monitoring of CPU, Processor, Disk, Transaction, Expand, SQL Statement,
ServerNet, File, and CLIM entities
• Alert notifications for defined and configured performance threshold values
• Security by encryption of all communications between NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials
and the managed systems
For more information about NonStop Cluster Performance Essentials, refer to the NonStop Cluster
Performance Essentials User Guide and HP SIM for NonStop Manageability.
Insight Control Power Management
Insight Control Power Management is an HP SIM plug-in that displays the layout of servers and
devices in racks and data center floors, summarizing temperature and power consumption. It allows
you to monitor and manage power capacity and utilization for blades and c-class enclosures and
power delivery devices for data centers. It also allows you to monitor inlet air temperature and
24-hour peak temperature for blades and c-class enclosures. Insight Control Power Management
provides both power and thermal monitoring for NonStop BladeSystems. It also provides alerts for
potential errors, lack of redundancy and configuration anomalies.
OSM has been enhanced to allow a NonStop system to be powered down gracefully from Insight
Control Power Management.
For NonStop BladeSystems NB54000c, NB54000c-cg, NB56000c, and NB56000c-cg only,
Insight Control Power Management should be used to set the Power Regulator mode immediately
after the Power Regulator has been enabled in the OSM Service Connection. See HP SIM for
NonStop Manageability for procedure information.
The Insight Control Power Management installer is included on the HP Insight Control for NonStop
DVD that ships with the NonStop System Console Installer DVD. For information about installing
Insight Control Power Management, see the NonStop System Console Installer Guide.
For information about using Insight Control Power Management, see the HP Insight Control Power
Management User Guide for the version you are using.
