NonStop Software Essentials Installation and Quick Start Guide

◦ Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Standard, SP2 (x64 version)
◦ Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, SP2 (x64 version)
• At least 4 GB of memory (8 GB is recommended).
• Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0.
• Connectivity to a secure operations LAN is required for access to the OSM Event Viewer.
• Software: HP SIM 6.3 or later with Hotfixes. HP SIM 6.3 can be installed from the HP SIM
DVD that shipped with NonStop System Console DVD, Update 15 and later. For Update 17,
the DVD that ships along with the NSC DVD was retitled the HP Insight Control for NonStop
DVD; it now contains the NonStop Software Essentials client component for both Windows
and Linux in addition to HP SIM. You can also download HP SIM from http://www.hp.com/
go/hpsim/download.
Install and configure HP SIM by following the instructions provided in the Installation and
Configuration Guide manual specific to your version, which can be found at http://
www.hp.com/go/insightfoundation-manuals, under the “HP Systems Insight Manager” heading.
HP SIM, depending on the version, has its own prerequisites:
◦ Upgrading directly from SIM 5.3 to 6.3 is not supported. You must have 5.3.1 installed
– or – upgrade to HP SIM 6.0 (which has the required SQL Express 2005 SP3), then you
can upgrade to HP SIM 6.3.
◦ SNMP support on the Windows device – This can be installed using the Add/Remove
Windows components section in the Add/Remove Programs wizard.
◦ .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and Windows Installer 4.5 (for HP SIM 6.3 only). If the HP
SIM installer reports that either are missing, they can be installed from the HP Insight
Control for NonStop DVD that ships along with the NonStop System Console Installer
DVD, Update 17 or later.
◦ To work with OSM, secure sockets layer (SSL) must be enabled in OSM (see “Configuring
OSM (Conditional)” (page 19)).
Linux CMS Requirements
The NonStop Software Essentials Client component (T0996) can be installed on any Linux CMS
that meets these minimum requirements:
• Any HP IA-32 or IA-64 AMD64 or EM64T system running one of the following Linux versions:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Update 4 (32 bit)◦

◦ Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (32 bit)

• At least a 1.5-GHz processor and 4 GB RAM; 2.4-GHz processor and 8 GB RAM is
recommended.
• Network connectivity – to a secure operations LAN.
