the DVD that ships along with the NSC DVD was retitled the HP Insight Control for NonStop
DVD; it now contains the NonStop Software Essentials client component for both Windows
and Linux in addition to HP SIM. You can also download HP SIM from http://www.hp.com/
go/hpsim/download.
NonStop Server Software Requirements
The NonStop Software Essentials Server component is T0894. Before “Installing the NonStop
Server Component” (page 13), the NonStop server must have the following minimum RVU and
SPRs, as appropriate for the type of NonStop servers to be managed with NonStop Software
Essentials:

DSM/SCM Upgrade Sequence
When upgrading DSM/SCM SPRs to T6031 ACS (or later) for H/J-series, or ACR (or later) for
G-series, all target systems should be upgraded before the host system. This will avoid problems
due to a change in format of the snapshot file on earlier versions of DSM/SCM.
DSM/SCM Requirements
The minimum required DSM/SCM SPRs for use with NonStop Software Essentials are listed in the
table under “NonStop Server Software Requirements” (page 11).
Other software products required or recommended for use with DSM/SCM in the NonStop Software
Essentials environment include:

Expand
To use an Expand network connection, Expand is required on both the target and host systems. If
you have a host or target system that will use only tape for communication, Expand is optional
and must be specifically licensed.
SQL/MP
DSM/SCM uses an SQL database to manage software. It should be present on the system, as a
limited version of HP NonStop SQL/MP, sufficient for DSM/SCM but not other usage, is included
in the base NonStop OS installation. Standard SQL-related products include:
