CHAPTER 7: APPENDIX
_____________________________________________________________________________
7.1 PARAMETER DETAILS
The parameters are:
ALLOW <process-to-file match tolerance>
If a Measurement is started when processes are already running, and their files are already open,
MEASURE may record the DISCOPEN or FILE entities BEFORE recording the PROCESS entities; this effect
can be significant on a busy system with many entities under measurement. This parameter allows the
user to specify by how many seconds a DISCOPEN or FILE entity recording can precede its opening
PROCESS entity recording, in order to allow it still to be matched to its opening PROCESS.
Too small a value may result in DISCOPENs or FILEs not being matched to their opening PROCESSES; too
large a value may result in DISCOPENs or FILEs being matched to the wrong PROCESS if there is
significant transient processing and Process IDs (<Cpu,Pin>s) are "re-used".
NOTE: Values range from 0.00 to 99.99 seconds; the default value is 5 seconds.
Example: ALLOW 15
AUDIT <TMF Audit Trail Volume Name1, TMF Audit Trail Volume Name2,…>
Specifies the logical volume name(s) of the TMF Audit Trail Volume. The "TMF Overview" chart uses this
parameter to select the appropriate volume for which to present TMF activity data.
NOTE: These should be the full volume names, including the leading dollar sign. The default name is
$AUDIT.
Example: AUDIT $DATA3
BEGIN <process timeline begin time>
The "New Process Creation Timeline" and "Process Existence Timeline" reports show the new process
creations and process existence, respectively, during intervals within the overall measurement
"window". These reports show 16 equal-sized intervals within the window.
One would typically use this parameter, in conjunction with the INTERVAL parameter, to "zoom in" on a
shorter time period within the measurement window.
