Development
The ETK client program provides a graphical user interface (GUI) that runs on the PC.
Thus, you can use the inexpensive PC hardware for program development, which
leads to better utilization of your Integrity NonStop servers.
ETK is an extension package to Visual Studio.NET. It and provides a graphical user
interface in which you use menus and dialog boxes to set up projects and select the
various program development tools and options. Using a wizard, you can select the
target platform (for example Guardian or Open System Services) and the type of object
you want to create (for example, an executable user library). You can also initialize
compilation and deployment options, all without the need for typing in long sequences
of commands, parameters, and options.
Figure 6-3 shows an example of an ETK screen, showing a C program and the general
layout of the Visual Inspect program window. The figure also shows the Execution
menu commands, which provide for activating step execution mode and resuming
program execution.
