Support for Industry Standards
The challenge of integrating and providing services for these disparate systems is a
difficult one. The EAI layer of a real-time solution must be able to integrate all
applications, platforms, and databases in the enterprise; it must be able to cope with
the variety of systems within a business to enable them to communicate.
Support for Industry Standards
To preserve a company’s investment in business application systems, to take
advantage of the many existing application services, and to facilitate development of
new applications, a real-time solution must support current industry standards in:
•
Messaging middleware
•
Services and applications
•
Application integration frameworks
•
Standard component models
Messaging Middleware
A real-time solution must provide an efficient, reliable way to route information between
the operational applications and the real-time hub to keep the data store synchronized
with the applications and the applications synchronized with each other. For example,
a customer address change might be communicated (via the real-time hub) from a
credit card application on one system to eStore and gift registry applications on other
systems.
Industry-standard messaging middleware products, such as Java Message Service
(JMS) and IBM MQ series, provide message routing services. These products provide
