The following example illustrates a select from a column of type MONTH TO DAY

when this property is set to the default, SYSTEM_DEFAULT:

When bound to DATE data type, the value retrieved is 0001-12-

31.

If the SQL Datetime Retrieval property is set to

MSDN_DEFAULT, the retrieved value is 1900-12-31.
