RDF System Management Manual for J-series and H-series RVUs (RDF Update 13)

NOTE: If you enter the SCF PRIMARY DISK for an updater's UPDATEVOLUME, the affected
updater might report a number of RDF 700 events with the file-system errors 10, 11, and 71. If
these errors occur, they will be reported immediately following the disk primary event. In this
situation, these errors can be expected and they do not indicate that the backup database has
become inconsistent with the primary database. To avoid these errors, always stop the updaters
first, issue the SCF PRIMARY DISK command, and restart the updaters.
Online Remirroring of Updater UPDATEVOLUMES
SCF Reference Manual for the Storage Subsystem, Chapter (6: Configuring Disks: Configuring
Mirrored Disks: Remirroring Disks Online). The seven steps listed in the section Remirroring Disks
Online (titled Example of Online Disk Remirroring Disk Online) must be adhered to complete the
online remirroring task.
Steps four and seven involving SWAPMIRROR operation are applicable to RDF Updater. An updater
affected by online remirroring might report a number of RDF 700 events, with the file-system errors
10, 11, and 71, when the SWAPMIRROR operation is performed. During online remirroring, these
file-system errors are expected. However, the errors do not indicate that the backup database has
become inconsistent with the primary database. To avoid the errors, you must stop the updaters
before a SWAPMIRROR operation is performed as a part of remirroring the disk.
When multiple disks are being remirrored, then the updaters must be stopped before a
SWAPMIRROR operation is performed for each of the disks.
For more information on Remirroring Disk Online, see the SCF Reference Manual for the Storage
Subsystem.
