Command Overview
Command Overview
Table 4-2 lists all SCF commands and gives a general description of what each
command does. A full description of each command starts on page 5-17.

Command Page Description
ABORT 5-17 Stops the operation of an object without regard to the current
state of its operation.
ACTIVATE 5-19 Returns a suspended object to the STARTED state.
ADD 5-20 Defines an object to a subsystem.
AGGREGATE 5-22 Displays the number of objects in the STARTED state and the
STOPPED state, together with the total number of objects in a
state other than STARTED or STOPPED.
ALIAS 5-23 Defines a command or text abbreviation.
ALLOCATE 5-25 Allocates, or reserves, file space for one or more objects.
Each object must be a defined objectâeither explicitly, using
the ADD command, or implicitly.
ALLOW 5-26 Specifies the number of errors or warnings permitted during
the execution of a command file.
ALLOWOPENS 5-28 Allows an object to once again accept opens; reverses the
effect of the STOPOPENS command.
ALTER 5-30 Changes the values of one or more attributes of an object.
ASSIGN 5-32 Changes, adds, and displays ASSIGN messages passed to
new processes initiated by the SCF RUN command.
ASSUME 5-36 Sets the default object type, object name, or both.
BOOT 5-38 Prepares the programmable controller for a download of
software. The controller should be in the STOPPED state
when the BOOT command is issued.
CHECK 5-39 Displays brief information about one or more objects. The
display comprises abbreviated information from the INFO,
NAME, STATS, and STATUS commands.
CLEAR 5-40 Clears the logical-file assignments made using the ASSIGN
command, parameters set using the PARAM command, and
aliases defined using the ALIAS command.
COMMENT 5-42 Allows the specification of descriptive text in command files.
CONFIRM 5-43 Enables or disables the display of positive responses from
subsystems.
CONNECT 5-44 Establishes a connection between two objects.
CONTROL 5-45 Allows the user to issue certain subsystem-specific
commands.
COPY 5-46 Copies an object from one location to another.
