Preparing an Integrity NonStop NS16000 System
3. If the ServerNet PIC icon contains a yellow arrow, double-click to expand it and
select the Port object. In this example, the degraded Service State is caused by an
alarm. In the Alarms tab, select the individual alarm, then right-click and select
Detail to get more information, including suggested repair actions, for the alarm.
Replacing the Cluster PIC in a Processor Switch
To change the type of cluster PIC from MMF or SMF or to replace the PIC, right-click
on the ServerNet PIC object in slot 2 and select Actions. Perform the Replace action
to launch an OSM guided procedure to help you replace the PIC. The MSEB Replace
action documented in the existing ServerNet cluster manuals does not apply to
Integrity NonStop NS-series nodes.
Adding a Cluster PIC
1. Determine if you need an MMF PIC or SMF PIC.
2. In slot 2 of the p-switch, insert the PIC until it is fully seated.
3. Check that the green power LED on the PIC is lit, and that the amber fault LED is
not lit.
4. Refer to Adding the Node to a ServerNet Cluster. Do not connect the cables until
instructed to do so by the guided procedure.
Adding the Node to a ServerNet Cluster
1. On both the X-fabric and Y-fabric, check that the PICs used to connect the p-switch
to the cluster switch are the correct type (either SMF or MMF) as described in
Hardware Requirements on page 1-3.
2. If the PICs in both the cluster switch and p-switch do not match or are not
supported for the type of cluster switch, replace or add the correct type of PIC to
either the cluster switch or p-switch as needed.
3. Start the guided procedure for adding an Integrity NonStop NS-series node to a
new or existing ServerNet cluster:
a. In the tree pane of the OSM Service Connection, right-click the system
resource and select Actions.
b. Select Add Node to ServerNet Cluster and click Perform Action.
c. In the guided procedure, click Start.
