Common Problems and Their Causes
Problem Determination

The SAVEABEND file (where applicable), if a save file was created by
SNAX/HLS.
The source-code listing, compilation listing, and binder listing of your
installation’s customization routines (see the SNAX/HLS Application Programming
Manual), together with the source listing for your installation’s SNAX/HLS
application program.
The source and object of the RDT file in use by the SNAX/HLS process at the time
of failure as well as the PROFILE name used to establish the failing SNAX/HLS
session. (See the SNAX/HLS Configuration and Control Manual.)
The version information for the Tandem SNA access method being used (for
example, SNAX/XF).
The Tandem SNA access method configuration file, that is the SNAX/XF or
SNAX/CDF SCF configuration files.
Device-Specific
Documentation
Provide your Tandem analyst with the following documentation if the problem
involves a device:
The component model number and features of the device involved in the problem.
Documentation of the error indication on the device or controller (for example,
X PROG 512 on screen, %+-- on controller display panel).
The source code of the SNAX/HLS application, if the problem involves data
corruption.
As a general rule, follow the manufacturer’s suggestions on what information is
needed for accurate problem determination.
Gateway-Problem
Documentation
Provide your Tandem analyst with the following documentation if the problem
involves a gateway application (for example, if the session partner is CICS or IMS):
A listing of NCP generation for the line, the PU, and the LUs affected by the
problem.
A listing of VTAM generation for network units affected by the problem.
Subsystem definitions for network units affected by the problem (for example,
DFHTCT entries for Tandem LUs, if the session partner is CICS).
Subsystem definitions for transactions in progress when the problem occurred (for
example, DFHPCT and DFHPPT entries, if the session partner is CICS).
