This appendix contains the error messages that are common to the HLSCOM,
HLSRDT, and HLSTAP programs, as well as the error messages that are specific to the
HLSTAP program. For information on specific error messages for the HLSCOM
program refer to Appendix B of the SNAX/HLS Configuration and Control Manual. For
information on specific error messages for the HLSRDT program refer to Appendix C
of the SNAX/HLS Configuration and Control Manual.
Common Error
Messages
The error messages listed below are produced by the HLSCOM, HLSRDT, and
HLSTAP programs. These error messages diagnose errors in the command syntax.
Argument must be numeric
Cause. The argument should have been a number.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Correct the command and reissue it.
Argument out of range
Cause. The argument was outside the allowed range.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Check the syntax for the command to find the correct range, correct and
reissue the command.
Expected
delim
delimiter not found
Cause. The command should have used the delimiter character indicated by the
message. This error is returned when the command interpreter was expecting more
information (a delimiter followed by a parameter), but encountered the end of string
instead. You also receive this message if you invoke HLSCOM without specifying a
process name on startup.
Effect. The command fails.
Recovery. Check the syntax of the command, make the necessary corrections, and
reissue the command.
