Upgrading sequence
After upgrading to SQL/MX Release 3.0, you can use the SQL/MX database in one of
the following ways:

Upgrade scenario 1 - New features offered by SQL/MX Release 3.0 are not
required: If you do not want to use any of the new features offered by SQL/MX
Release 3.0, no further changes are required after upgrading.

Upgrade scenario 2 - New features offered in SQL/MX Release 3.0 on existing
database and applications: To use new features offered in SQL/MX Release 3.0 on
any existing database and applications, you must upgrade all the metadata.

Upgrade scenario 3 - New features offered in SQL/MX Release 3.0 on new
databases and applications: After migration, newly created databases and
applications can use the SQL/MX Release 3.0 features. Additionally, the newly
created databases and applications can coexist with the databases and
applications from the earlier release.
