TFDSCOM Commands
Guidelines
You can use the abbreviation bn in place of BURSTNOTIFY.
You must set BURSTSUPPRESSION to ON for BURSTNOTIFY to start.
BURSTNOTIFY controls notification of processes that send redundant error
information. Disabling this feature forces TFDS to add duplicate incidents to the
incident database and issue an internal error event for each recurrent problem. HP
does not recommend disabling this option.
If num-times is set to 1 or 2, a burst notification is not sent out for the first
burstnotify interval because the first two events are automatically sent out to the
maintenance log ($ZLOG). A burst notification is sent out for a later interval.
Example
BURSTNOTIFY 20, 7200
BURSTSUPPRESSION
The BURSTSUPPRESSION command directs the processing of duplicate incidents
shortly after initial incidents.
ON
enables burst suppression. The default BURSTSUPPRESSION setting is ON.
OFF
disables burst suppression.
Guidelines
You can use the abbreviation bs in place of BURSTSUPPRESSION.
Under normal circumstances, you should never disable this option. Doing so can
allow a runaway process to fill the incident database and event log with duplicate
events.
If BURSTSUPPRESSION is turned off while TFDS is processing an incident
triggered by an instrument, the message 'Unable to stop Burst task at this time -it's
busy' is issued. The command can be successfully executed once the Burst task
finishes.
BURSTSUPPRESSION { ON | OFF}
Note. This feature suppresses duplicate incidents triggered only by instruments, not by
Processor Down incidents.
