TFDSCOM Commands
ALTERNATE VOLUMES ALLOWED
instructs TFDS to select another volume if the first one does not have the specified
amount of free space. (TFDS looks to see if ALTERNATE-VOLUMES has any
volumes specified. If alternate volumes are specified, the dump is taken on an
alternate volume. If no alternate volumes are specified, TFDS selects the disk drive
with the largest amount of free space and generates the dump.)
ALTERNATE VOLUMES DISALLOWED
instructs TFDS not to select another disk volume if the initial volume does not have
the specified amount of free space. In this case, no dump is taken, and the
processor remains down. You must either issue a new DUMPVOLUME command
to specify another drive or allow alternate volumes, or clear space and use the
ANALYZE command to restart the process of analyzing and dumping the
processor.
Guidelines
•
You can use the abbreviation dv in place of DUMPVOLUME.
•
No volume, percentage, or alternate volume is specified in the default setting.
•
If no volume is specified, the value is reset to “Not Assigned,” and TFDS searches
the ALTERNATE VOLUMES set (if there is one) for an alternate volume to use for
the dump. (See ALTERNATE-VOLUMES on page 2-16.) If no alternate volume set
has been specified, TFDS searches for the disk drive with the largest amount of
free space during run time and uses it to generate the dump.
•
If the volume specified does not exist, TFDSCOM retains the current value and
returns an error message.
•
To determine the current specified volume, use the CONFIG command. (See
CONFIG on page 3-15.)
•
If insufficient disk space is available, no dump is taken. For SMR processors, the
processor remains down. You must either issue a new DUMPVOLUME command
to specify another drive or allow alternate volumes, or clear space on the volume
and use the ANALYZE CPU n command to restart the process of analyzing and
dumping the processor. For DMR and TMR processors, there is approximately one
hour to manually dump the omitted NSBE before the NSBE is reintegrated into the
processor and the information is lost.
Example
This example defines the volume $ALPHA as the volume for TFDS activity:
DUMPVOLUME $ALPHA 10 ALTERNATE VOLUMES ALLOWED
If $ALPHA has less than 10 percent of free disk space, the memory dump is placed in
the volume that has the most free disk space.
