1 Concepts and Capabilities
This section presents an overview of TMF configuration concepts and capabilities. It
also describes a typical TMF environment. Even if your system exceeds some of the
stated capacity or performance criteria, you should read all of this section, because it
serves as a descriptive foundation for all TMF configuration activities.
This section contains the following topics:
The basic TMF configuration includes the following components:
The audit trails, which contain information saved by TMF to protect the database
The data volumes; that is, the volumes containing data to be protected
These components must be configured before TMF can protect your database. This
section describes how to configure these components initially.
The remaining sections of this manual describe more advanced TMF configuration
activities. Such activities include:
Reconfiguring TMF for load balancing and performance tuning
Configuring TMF for backup and recovery, including audit dumping and online
dumping
Configuring resource managers and gateways for distributed transaction
processing
