Determining the Current Configuration Volume
6. Issue a TMFCOM ALTER TMF, CONFIGVOL command, specifying the new
configuration volume name.
7. Issue a TMFCOM INFO TMF command to verify that the volume specified in
Step 5 is the new configuration volume.
8. Issue a TMFCOM START TMF command.
Determining the Current Configuration Volume
You can display the current configuration volume name by issuing a TMFCOM INFO
TMF command. Refer to the TMF Reference Manual to see the output of this
command.
Stopping and Restarting TMF
It is normally not necessary or advisable to stop TMF. You can reconfigure most TMF
system components and perform most maintenance operations while TMF is started.
Ordinarily, you should stop TMF only when you need to do one of the following:
Shut down the system for a cold load—for example, to apply an interim product
modification (IPM) to the TMP or to the TMFMON process.
Change the TMF catalog configuration, which can be done only when TMF is
stopped.
Add or delete an entire audit trail.
Set or reset the file size attribute for an audit trail.
The last two items require you to delete the TMF configuration and start over, as
described in Deleting the TMF Configuration and Starting Over on page 1-8.
The following subsections provide basic information about stopping and restarting
TMF. For additional details about these tasks, refer to the descriptions of the STOP
TMF and START TMF commands in the TMF Reference Manual.
Stopping TMF
When you stop TMF by issuing a STOP TMF command without the ABRUPT option,
the TMP shuts down the TMF environment in an orderly way, allowing all activities in
progress to complete. After shutting the environment down, the TMP remains to
respond to a START TMF command or to certain reconfiguration commands.
Caution. Stopping TMF stops transaction processing on your system. When you stop TMF,
any applications being protected by it can no longer update the audited database tables and
files. If you must stop TMF, choose a time when the interruption will affect system users the
least.
