Additional TMF Configuration Activities
6. Issue a TMFCOM STOP TMF command and wait for TMF to stop. If you are using
the RDF product, you must also wait for it to finish processing the audit trail and
shut itself down (the RDF product shuts itself down automatically when TMF is
stopped).
7. Issue a TMFCOM DELETE TMF command.
Reconfiguring TMF
1. Issue one or more TMFCOM ADD AUDITTRAIL commands to configure the
desired audit trails.
2. Issue a TMFCOM START TMF command.
3. Issue one or more TMFCOM ADD DATAVOLS commands to configure the data
volumes.
4. Issue an ALTER AUDITDUMP command with the COPIES parameter to specify
two copies of each audit dump.
5. Add scratch tapes to the configuration by issuing one or more ADD TAPEMEDIA
commands with the STATUS option set to SCRATCH.
6. Issue the appropriate TMFCOM commands to configure any other TMF features
that you are using (ALTER BEGINTRANS, for example, or ALTER PROCESS).
Additional TMF Configuration Activities
Sections 3 through 7 discuss additional TMF configuration activities. The topics in
those sections have been separated from the basic overview in this section not
because they are difficult to use, but because many TMF customers will never need to
use them. Furthermore, some of the activities described in these sections could have
negative effects on system performance or resource usage if done improperly.
Much of the information in the following sections pertains to performance tuning.
Configuring TMF for optimum performance can be a complex task. The optimum
configuration depends on the type of transactions in your application and the rate of
audit information that is generated. Some analysis of your needs and experimentation
with different configurations might be necessary.
Refer to Section 3, Reconfiguring Audit Trails, for further information if any of the
following is true:
Audit trail overflow seems to be occurring too often.
Audit dumping seems too slow.
File recovery seems too slow.
Caution. To ensure a clean shutdown of TMF, you must wait for TMF to go to the stopped
state.
