Changing Other Parameters for Audit Dumps
Changing Other Parameters for Audit Dumps
You can also use the ALTER AUDITDUMP command to make the following changes in
your audit dump configuration:
Change the system (or systems, when dumping to tape) on which the dumps are
to be archived
Change from one dump medium to another: for example, if your primary dump
medium is disk and you want to switch to tape dumps
Add or delete target disk volumes, if you are directing audit dumping to disk
Change the number of copies made of each audit dump, if you are directing audit
dumping to tape
Change the manner in which multiple copies are made—from series to parallel or
from parallel to series
Change the block size used for audit dumps
Turn tape verification on or off
You can change these audit dump attributes while TMF is started. Any changes you
make will affect future audit dumps, but not those currently in progress.
Changing the System
To change the system or systems on which audit dumps are to be archived, use the
SYSTEM option in the ALTER AUDITDUMP command. By default, audit dumps are
archived on the local system.
Changing the Audit Dump Medium
To direct audit dumps to disk rather than tape (the default), include the MEDIUM DISK
and ADDDISKMEDIA options in an ALTER AUDITDUMP command. To direct audit
dumps to tape rather than disk, include the MEDIUM TAPE or the RESET MEDIUM
option.
Adding and Deleting Target Disk Volumes
Up to sixteen disk volumes can be configured at any one time for receiving audit
dumps. If you configure more than one volume for that purpose, they are used in the
sequence in which they are configured (the first volume is used until it is full, then the
second volume is used until it is full, and so forth). To add or delete target disk
volumes, use the ADDDISKMEDIA or DELDISKMEDIA option in an ALTER
AUDITDUMP command.
