Reconfiguring TMF Processes

Catalog
Catalog
One catalog process pair, named $XCAT, in each HP NonStop server runs TMF. The
primary catalog process is created by the TMP when you start TMF, and the process
pair is terminated when you stop TMF.
The catalog process queries and manipulates entries in the TMF catalog in response
to:
Requests from other TMF processes
TMFCOM commands such as ADD TAPEMEDIA and ALTER DUMPS
Requests from the labeled tape server ($ZSVR), which is invoked by certain
TAPECOM and MEDIACOM commands (such as USE TAPE or NEXT TAPE) and
by the tape process when the operator mounts a scratch tape
If the catalog process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP automatically
restarts it.
Audit Dump
When the automatic audit dumping feature is configured and enabled, an audit dump
process copies filled audit-trail files from the active-audit volume to the configured
archive media.
An audit dump process runs only when an audit trail is full or when a rollover is initiated
manually with a NEXT AUDITTRAIL command. If the audit dump process stops or
abends while TMF is running, the TMP automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the
audit dump process is terminated.
Audit Overflow
When the automatic audit dumping feature is turned on, an audit overflow process
copies the earliest audit-trail file from the associated active-audit volume to an
overflow-audit volume whenever audit-trail usage reaches the configured overflow
threshold.
An audit overflow process runs only when an audit-trail file is full and cannot be
dumped, or when a rollover is initiated manually with a NEXT AUDITTRAIL command.
If the audit overflow process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the audit overflow process is terminated.
