Online Dump
Online Dump
An online dump process is automatically created whenever you issue a DUMP FILES
command.
The online dump process copies the specified database tables and files from data
volumes to archive media.
If the online dump process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the online dump process is terminated.
Volume Recovery
The TMP automatically creates a volume recovery process whenever TMF attempts to
enable a data volume. The volume recovery process applies any updates to the data
volume that were in cache when the volume was last shut down, and backs out any
changes associated with transactions that were not complete when the volume was
last shut down.
If the volume recovery process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the volume recovery process is
terminated.
File Recovery
The TMP automatically creates a file recovery process whenever you issue a
RECOVER FILES command. The file recovery process reapplies all audit activity that
occurred since the most recent online dump to the designated files.
If the file recovery process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the file recovery process is terminated.
File Recovery List
The TMP automatically creates a file recovery list process whenever you issue a
RECOVER FILES command. The file recovery list process translates the file set
specified in the RECOVER FILES command ($DATA07.*.*, for example) into a list of
fully qualified database table names and file names.
If the file recovery list process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the file recovery list process is terminated.
Audit Restore
The TMP automatically creates an audit restore process whenever a recovery process
requires that one or more audit dumps be restored. The audit restore process copies
audit dump files from the archive media to the restore-audit volume.
If the audit restore process stops or abends while TMF is running, the TMP
automatically restarts it. When it is finished, the audit restore process is terminated.
