Fallback Plan for Phase C
Fallback Plan for Phase C
Note that this plan preserves the changes to data made during Phase C:
1. Do a clean TMF shutdown (all audited disks must be available); otherwise your HP
field service representative must hand patch to restore consistency to all audited
files.
2. Back up all audited files by using Backup/Restore (because TMF protection is lost
during this process, and the files on disk are the only copies).
3. Create a CONFIGFORM file of the TMF configuration (if not done at the last
configuration change).
4. Issue a TMFCOM DELETE TMF command (deletes all audit-trail files).
5. Fall back to an earlier RVU that does not support format 2 audit-trail files.
6. Make any needed modifications to the CONFIGFORM file, including deleting the
format 2 audit command.
7. Recreate the TMF configuration by issuing the OBEY command for the
CONFIGFORM file.
8. Issue a TMFCOM START TMF command.
9. Take a full set of TMF online dumps to reestablish file recovery protection.
Alternative Fallback Plan for Phase C
Since this alternative plan discards all changes to data made during Phase C, use this
alternative plan only if step 1 under ā€œFallback Plan for Phase Cā€ cannot be achieved
and you have full TMF online dumps and audit dumps taken during Phase A or B in the
TMF catalog.
1. Create a CONFIGFORM file of TMF configuration (if not done at the last
configuration change).
2. Back up the TMF catalog and configuration files by using Backup/Restore.
BACKUP $<tape-device-name>, $<config-vol>.ZTMFCONF.*, OPEN
3. Issue a TMFCOM DELETE TMF command (deletes all audit-trail files).
Note that steps 2 and 3 can be done after falling back instead of before falling
back.
4. Fall back to an earlier RVU that does not support format 2 audit-trail files.
5. Make any needed modifications to the CONFIGFORM file, including deleting the
format 2 audit command.
6. Recreate the TMF configuration by issuing the OBEY command for the
CONFIGFORM file.
