Who Should Read This Guide
This guide is intended for individuals responsible for system and database
management in a TMF environment, including the following tasks:
Planning the TMF configuration
Configuring TMF
Ensuring the integrity of production database tables and files
Tuning the TMF environment for performance
The titles of such people vary from one company to another: for example, they might
be called system managers, database administrators, or operations coordinators. For
simplicity, within this manual we refer to such a person as a system administrator.
As a prerequisite for this guide, you should read TMF Introduction. Furthermore, to use
this guide effectively, you should have a working knowledge of the HP NonStop Kernel
operating system for HP NonStop systems. Also, you should understand the use of
the File Utility Program (FUP), Subsystem Control Facility (SCF), Guardian disk and
tape utilities, HP NonStop Storage Management Foundation (SMF) product (if your
system uses this product), and TMFCOM commands. For information about those
products, see the manuals listed under Other Documentation on page ix.
