New and Changed Information
This edition of this manual describes the features and operations provided by the TMF
3.3 product, now available with RVU H06.05. This edition also incorporates the
previously published document, TMF Supplement for Large Audit-Trail Files.
This edition includes the following new and changed information:
Section 1, Introduction to TMF, updates information about the SNOOP utility
described under TMFCOM Command Interpreter.
Section 2, Using TMFCOM, revises the following items:

A Caution directing you to a manual supplement covering TMF limits and
defaults altered after this RVU.
°
A Caution about errors allowed by the previous version of TMFCOM.
Section 3, TMFCOM Commands, revises a Caution directing you to a manual
supplement covering TMF limits and defaults altered after this RVU, updates
Table 3-1, User Security Restrictions and TMF State Requirements for TMFCOM
Commands, and presents two new tables: Table 3-2, TMFCOM and TMFSERVE
Version Interaction: Operational Commands and Table 3-3, TMFCOM and
TMFSERVE Version Interaction: Informational Commands.
In addition, this section explains new or changed features and revises some
discussions in the following command descriptions:

ADD AUDITTRAIL describes the ability to add audit trails while TMF is started,
updates the discussions of the FILESIZE option to support large audit-trail files,
and adds information on same-volume optimization for overflow volumes. The
discussion also revises some examples.

ALTER AUDITDUMP revises information in the BLOCKSIZE, COPIES
SERIES, and RESET COPIES option descriptions.
°
ALTER AUDITTRAIL explains the COMMITHOLDMODE, RESET
COMMITHOLDMODE, and COMMITHOLDTIMER options that support the
new commit-hold feature for audit trails. In addition, this discussion expands
the TMF state requirement for issuing the ALTER AUDITTRAIL command, and
revises the information about the FILESIZE and RESET FILESIZE options to
support large audit-trail files. This discussion also adds information about
same-volume optimization for overflow volumes. Finally, this discussion
presents many new command examples.
