Entity Relationships
Entity Relationships
Entries within each TPDC entity are assigned a unique artificial 32-bit identification.
These identifiers have “-LINK” as the final portion of their name to indicate that the
attribute or data field is a linkage or relationship.
TPDC’s data collection entities come from these sources:
•
Twenty are derived from Measure entities.
•
Eight are used for ASCII name spaces.
•
Nine are obtained from the NonStop operating system.
•
Three are obtained from disk directories.
•
One is created for file names.
•
One is obtained from several entities.
•
One is a derived artificial name tuple.
•
One is created for time management.
Linkage Between Entities
Existence linkages are used to relate one entity to another by value. That is, related
entities contain the entityname-LINK field and value of a related entity. For example, an
occurrence of DISCOPEN contains the linkage field PROCESS-LINK with a value of
10. The PROCESS occurrence with an identification field (PROCESS-LINK) with a
