TS/MP 2.5 Release Supplement

Table 1 Validation and Error Message for Node Names
Error MessageValidation
Invalid node name length. The node name contains more than
eight characters.
Invalid node name - node name must start with a “\”.The node name does not have “\”
as first character.
Node name syntax error - only alphanumeric characters are expected. The node name contains some
special characters (other than “\”).
First character of node name must be an alphabet. The second character is not an
alphabet.
To add a new Pathway domain, it is not mandatory to stop and restart the ACS subsystem. You
can add a new Pathway domain in the ACSCTL file and use the SCF CONTROL ACS command.
For more information on the SCF CONTROL ACS command, see “SCF Command Reference for
the ACS Subsystem” (page 62).
Configuration and Environment Limits
This section describes the configuration and environment limits for Pathsend requestors. The Pathsend
requestor limits define architectural constraints. Practical limits might be lower depending on the
physical hardware available (for example, memory). As performance characteristics might be
different, you might need to recheck your configuration. For more information on tuning application
configuration, see “Link Management” (page 21).
Table 2 (page 20) lists the Pathsend Requestor Limits.
Table 2 Limits for Pathsend Requestors
TS/MP 2.5DescriptionParameter
2,097,152 bytesMaximum bytes for each server class send operation.Buffer length
256Maximum active dialogs for each requestor.Dialogs per requestor
8191Approximate maximum active dialogs for each processor.
The exact limit depends on the total number of outstanding
Dialogs per processor
context-free sends at the time the last dialog-begin call was
issued. The exact limit also depends on the utilization of the
current process file segment (PFS) size; the limit might be
higher.
Maximum links for each server process is 255. The actual
limit is defined by the LINKDEPTH parameter in the TS/MP
configuration.
Links per server
process
8191Approximate maximum concurrent links per processor. The
exact limit depends on the utilization of the current PFS size;
the limit might be higher.
Links to server
processes
4046Approximate maximum concurrent PATHMON processes.
The exact number of concurrent PATHMON processes with
PATHMON processes
which a PB can communicate depends on the current memory
utilization of the PB. (For information on PBs, see Architecture
Overview” (page 12)).
CPU LimitMaximum number of requestor processes is determined by
the maximum number of processes configured for each
processor.
Pathsend requestors
255Maximum concurrent, outstanding send requests for each
requestor.
