TS/MP 2.5 Release Supplement
is also updated to override the default domain feature of TS/MP 2.5. For more information
on the new domain name syntax and the updated flags parameter, see the TS/MP 2.5
Pathsend and Server Programming Manual.
• SCF commands: The SCF interface includes a new set of commands to manage the configuration
and operation of the ACS subsystem. For information on managing ACS subsystems, see
“Managing the ACS Subsystem” (page 59) and “SCF Command Reference for the ACS
Subsystem” (page 62).
• SCF error messages: The SCF interface for the ACS subsystem returns a set of error messages
specific to the subsystem. For more information on SCF error messages, see “SCF Error
Messages” (page 85).
• EMS event messages: The ACS subsystem generates a set of EMS event messages that augment
the EMS messages generated by TS/MP 2.0. All current TS/MP 2.0 EMS messages remain
the same. However, in TS/MP 2.5, applications that check for specific LINKMON EMS events
messages (for example, management applications) might no longer encounter these messages
under identical conditions. In addition, ACS EMS event messages provide improved notification
of problems. For information on ACS subsystem event tokens, see the TS/MP 2.5 System
Management Manual. For more information on ACS subsystem EMS event messages, see the
Operator Messages Manual.
• Pathsend API errors: The TS/MP 2.5 Pathsend API returns a set of errors. However, all former
LINKMON related Pathsend API errors that are required for functional compatibility are now
supplied by the ACS subsystem; minimal, if any, updates to the applications are needed. For
information on ACS subsystem Pathsend API errors, see the TS/MP 2.5 System Management
Manual.
• 905 (FESCNoServerLinkAvailable) errors: You might encounter an increased frequency
of 905 (FESCNoServerLinkAvailable) errors because of the different handling methods
of work load distribution.
The ACS subsystem provides two processes (the redirector and the PB) that functionally replace
the single ROUT process in TS/MP 2.0. The ACS subsystem returns error 905 when the
following sequence of events occur:
1. The redirector process needs a link for a request and asks the PB for a link.
2. The PB does not receive a link from the PATHMON process.
3. However, at the same time, the redirector process returns a link that the PB cannot process
yet.
In this situation, the ACS subsystem is not aware of the waiting available link and returns error
905. However, TS/MP 2.0 is aware of the waiting available link and provides the link without
returning an error.
HP recommends that you increase the number of links available in the server class configuration
or retry the request. If you retry the request, it typically completes without an error unless there
are no links to that server class in the CPU and none are available from the PATHMON process.
• Changes to the TS/MP server DELETEDELAY attribute: The DELETEDELAY attribute specifies
the minimum duration a dynamic server link is left idle before the ACS subsystem link
management processes return the link to a PATHMON process. (In contrast, the TS/MP 2.0
DELETEDELAY attribute specifies the exact duration a dynamic server is idle.)
• New Management Interface (NMI) and Updated PATHMON/PATHCOM components: The
management interface called the Pathway Domain Management Interface (PDMI) is a superset
of the existing PATHCOM interface, which supports all existing PATHCOM commands and
provides commands to configure and manage multiple PATHMON processes with replicated
Pathway configuration.
HP recommends that the PDMI interface must be used to configure and manage PATHMON
processes participating in a Pathway domain. For information on the commands of the PDMI
