Glossary
A-B
ACS domain A defined set of objects (resources) within a single physical NonStop system that are controlled
and managed as a unit by the ACS subsystem.
ACSCTL The ACS control file is the persistent store of environment configuration data.
Application Cluster
Services (ACS)
subsystem
An infrastructure used by transaction-processing middleware products to manage and access
server classes.
C-D
client A process running on in a NonStop kernel environment that uses the Pathsend API to communicate
with a server class. See also requestor.
configuration
subscriber (CS)
process
A process in the ACS subsystem that receives configuration information and makes it available
to the other ACS subsystem processes.
domain
coordinator
process
The ACS subsystem manager process that coordinates and manages the resources configured
for the subsystem.
E-F
EMS The Event Management Service is part of the Distributed Systems Management (DSM) used to
provide event collection, logging, and distribution facilities.
environment A set of objects configured under and managed by a PATHMON process that monitors and
manages a TS/MP application.
free pool The set of processes associated with server classes, which are managed by the PB process.
G-O
LINKMON A TS/MP 2.0 privileged process executing in each processor of a NonStop system to provide
link management to multiple TS/MP PATHMON-defined server classes. In other versions of TS/MP
this process is called ROUT.
non-sensitive
command
A command that can be issued by any user or program allowed to access the subsystem. In other
words, a command for which the subsystem does not impose security restrictions. Non-sensitive
commands cannot change the state or configuration of the objects; they are usually informational

P
PATHMON process The manager process for TS/MP 2.0 environments.
Pathsend API A set of procedures for performing context-free and context-sensitive communication with server
classes.
Pathway Domain A logical domain having multiple replicated Pathway environments grouped together.
Pathway Domain
Management
Command
interpreter
(PDMCOM)
A new command-line interface used to start PDMI and configure and operate on multiple Pathway
environments at the same time. It is a superset of PATHCOM.
Pathway Domain
Management
Interface (PDMI)
A management interface with a set of commands for configuring, controlling, and monitoring
multiple PATHMON processes. Typically, it is used to work with multiple PATHMON processes
under a single Pathway domain.
