TS/MP Release Supplement
Introduction to TS/MP 2.3
HP NonStop TS/MP Release Supplement—546055-006
2-3
Applications
Applications
If you are not using any new feature from the TS/MP 2.3 product, you do not need to
modify your existing application. However, as TS/MP 2.3 has new link management
algorithms, you may want to make some configuration modifications in the existing
application for performance tuning purposes. For information on how to modify the
configuration of your existing application, see Link Management
.
In most cases, no changes are required to the applications if using the new Pathway
domain feature.
The TS/MP 2.3 Pathsend library replaces the TS/MP 2.0 Pathsend library. Although,
both Pathsend libraries function similarly, they are internally different and cannot be
used interchangeably. Therefore, you might need to migrate the application to TS/MP
2.3. For information on migrating applications, see Section 5, Migrating Applications to
TS/MP 2.3 and Later Versions.
Management and Control
Pathway Domain Management Interface (PDMI) is a new management interface
introduced in TS/MP 2.3. The PDMI can be used when you want to configure multiple
PATHMON processes with replicated configurations, while using the Pathway domain
feature.
Event and Error Messages
The ACS subsystem returns a new set of EMS messages that functionally replace the
messages formerly returned by the LINKMON process. Similarly, the ACS subsystem
Pathsend APIs return a new set of errors. Messages returned by the TS/MP
PATHMON process are unchanged.
For information on EMS messages, see the
Operator Messages Manual.
For information on the ACS subsystem EMS event tokens, see Section 14, ACS
Subsystem Messages in the
TS/MP Management Programming Manual.
For information on the ACS SCF errors, see Section 9, SCF Error Messages
.
For information on ACS API errors, see Section 7, Pathsend Errors for ACS
Subsystem in the
TS/MP Pathsend and Server Programming Manual.
New Pathsend Limits
TS/MP 2.3 contains a link-management architecture designed for the more powerful
processors typically installed in the current NonStop systems. It provides higher
Note. Before running TS/MP Pathsend applications, you must start the ACS subsystem. HP
recommends that you start PATHMON processes after the ACS subsystem is started. For
information on configuring and starting the ACS subsystem, see Section 6, Installing and
Configuring and Section 7, Managing the ACS Subsystem.
