TS/MP 2.3 Environment Differences
TS/MP 2.3 Environment Differences
TS/MP 2.3 is different from TS/MP 2.0 in the following ways:
Process name: For applications using Pathsend requesters, PATHMON processes
communicate with the process broker process (
$ZPnn); they no longer
communicate with the link manager process,
$ZLnn. The $ZLnn process
continues to perform link management functions.
Higher Pathsend limits: To use higher link limits supported by TS/MP 2.3, TS/MP
2.0 customers might want to modify the Pathway configuration file as needed. For
more information on using higher link limits, see the new limits listed in Table 1-1,
Limits for Pathsend Requesters.
ACS Subsystem start up: Before starting TS/MP Pathsend requesters, you must
start the ACS subsystem using the SCF commands. For more information on
starting the subsystem, see Section 6, Installing and Configuring
.
New Pathsend library: The TS/MP 2.3 Pathsend library replaces the TS/MP 2.0
Pathsend library. Although the two Pathsend libraries function similarly, they are
internally different and cannot be used interchangeably.
New Pathway Domain Syntax and Updated Optional flags Parameter: The
PATHMONName parameter in
SERVERCLASS_SEND_ and
SERVERCLASS_DIALOG_BEGIN_ calls are updated to accept a new Pathway
domain syntax. Additionally, the
flags parameter in the two APIs is also updated
to override the default domain feature of TS/MP 2.3. For more information on the
new domain name syntax and the updated
flags parameter, see the TS/MP
Pathsend and Server Programming Manual.
New SCF commands: The SCF interface includes a new set of commands to
manage the configuration and operation of the ACS subsystem. For information on
managing ACS subsystems, see Section 7, Managing the ACS Subsystem
and
Section 8, SCF Command Reference for the ACS Subsystem
.
New SCF error messages: The SCF interface for the ACS subsystem returns a
new set of error messages specific to the subsystem. For more information on SCF
error messages, see SCF Error Messages
.
EMS event messages: The ACS subsystem generates a set of EMS event
messages that augment the EMS messages generated by TS/MP 2.0. All current
TS/MP 2.0 EMS messages remain the same. However, in TS/MP 2.3, applications
that check for specific
LINKMON EMS events messages (for example, management
applications) might no longer encounter these messages under identical
conditions. In addition, new ACS EMS event messages might provide improved
notification of problems. For information on ACS subsystem event tokens, see the
TS/MP System Management Manual. For more information on ACS subsystem
EMS event messages, see the
Operator Messages Manual.
New Pathsend API errors: The TS/MP 2.3 Pathsend API returns a new set of
errors. However, all former LINKMON-related Pathsend API errors that are
