Tuxedo 8.0 README for H06.03

Core_README.txt
(Tuxedo core services), HP recommends that first you use
IPSetup for both distribution CDs. This places all the files
on the HP NonStop server. Then install both the components
at once, rather than installing them sequentially.
6. Follow the post-installation instructions in Section III below,
after using IPSetup to place and install this product.
II. Pre-Installation Instructions
Prepare to run IPSetup by performing the following steps:
1. If you have an existing NonStop Tuxedo application, the steps
required to upgrade your application depend on the level of your
current application. Consider these requirements in your upgrade
planning:
(a) For all upgrades from NonStop Tuxedo on TNS/R systems, to run
your servers or clients with NonStop Tuxedo 8.0 on a TNS/E
system, you must rebuild the client programs and servers.
(b) For upgrades from 8.0, you must shut down (stop) the NonStop
Tuxedo application at least once.
(c) If the NonStop Tuxedo application is distributed over several
machines, you must first upgrade the NonStop Tuxedo install-
ation on the master machine. Non-master machines can continue
to use NonStop Tuxedo and will interoperate within the
application. They can then be upgraded by taking them out of
the application while the remainder of the machines continue
to run the application.
TNS/E and TNS/R systems running NonStop Tuxedo 8.0 can be combined
in the same NonStop Tuxedo application.
See the "Release Guide" in the NonStop Tuxedo Documentation set
for more detailed information on application upgrades.
2. Ensure that you, the installation user, are not listed in
$SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.FTPUSERS.
Discussion: If you try to install products using IPSetup and your
user ID is listed in $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.FTPUSERS, the installation
fails at the point where IPSetup tries to transfer (with ftp) files
from the PC to the HP NonStop server. This failure typically
occurs when you install the product using the super.super ID and,
for security reasons, the super.super ID is forbidden ftp access.
3. If IPSetup fails with error 550 indicating it was unable to do a
"chdir" to the subvolume specified, ensure that you use a user ID
that does not have an OSS initial directory.
Discussion: IPSetup assumes ftp is using the Guardian API. If the
user ID specified to IPSetup has an initial OSS directory (that is,
the SAFEGUARD attribute initial-directory is set), then ftp uses
the OSS API and IPSetup fails with error 550 indicating it was
unable to do a "chdir" to the subvolume specified. To work around
this problem, remove the initial-directory value for the user ID
and rerun IPSetup.
To remove the attribute, as super.super, type the following command
at the TACL prompt:
TACL> SAFECOM
