Starting VHS
When VHS starts, it reads and validates all ASSIGNs, parameters, and DEFINEs to
initialize its environment. If a parameter is not specified, VHS uses its default values
(listed in Section 2).
If the parameters are valid, VHS does the following:
•
Creates a backup process
•
Opens the prompt file (if it does not exist, it is created)
•
Opens the log file (if it does not exist, it is created)
•
Waits for application messages to arrive
While the VHS process is executing, you can modify some of its configuration
parameters by using the VHSCI conversational interface. See the ALTER Command,
ENV Command, PARAM Command, and TIMEOUT Command in Section 7, Command
Descriptions.
Note. To run VHS with High PIN support, ensure that the #HIGHPIN built-in variable is set to
On at the TACL prompt.
