PAD Parameters
PAD parameters can be altered before a call is established. For example, a system
manager can perform alteration using SCF. The system manager can specify the entire
set of default parameters with the parameter change included. For example, if a
terminal needs flow control of the PAD, then the system manager submits the entire
set of parameters, including parameter 12 with a value of 1. When a call is established,
the terminal will have flow control of the PAD.
Networks may have different implementations of these parameters, including the
parameter number and the parameter operation. This information should be verified
with the network administration.
User-Configurable PAD Options
The BPADPARMS (for block mode) and CPADPARMS (for conversational mode)
parameters are user-configurable options to configure the PAD. These options can be
set either with an SCF ALTER or ADD command, or programmatically with a
SETMODE.
SCF PAD parameters are not sent immediately to the PAD. ITI sends BPADPARMS
when the terminal is switched to block mode. ITI sends CPADPARMS as a result of a
Call Completed issued by the application; then sends them again when the terminal is
switched back to conversation mode or as a result of a SETMODE issued by the
application.
Block mode, also called page mode, is applicable only to 6510, 653x, and 6530
emulator terminals. These parameters are attributes for both the LINE and SU
(subdevice) objects.
12 Flow control of PAD
by terminal
Not set 0 = No use of XON/XOFF
13 Line feed (LF)
insertion after
receipt of carriage
return (CR) from
terminal
0 = No line feed
4 = Insertion*
Determined by SETMODE 7.
00 = No line feed
14 Padding after line
feed (LF)
Not set 0 = No padding
15 Line editing Not set 0 = No line editing
* If no PAD parameters are specified for the line or subdevice, ITI does not insert a LF. Set PAD parameter 13, 4
if LF is needed.
Note. For PVCs, PAD parameters are sent when the subdevice is opened.
