Notes
Some data comes from queries to the VTC:
− General information such as Host name, OS and Version, version of BackBox
software
− VTC ports: List all physical ports prepared for BackPak operations inside the
VTC, and their internal status.
− Virtual Devices: List the virtual drives already configured in the domain, and
their internal status.
This information is blank when the VTC cannot be connected, is disabled, or when a port
that is associated to already configured devices has been removed from the internal VTC
configuration. The button “Refresh” allows retrying the query to the VTC.
Other information comes from the NonStop host and are kept in the BackPak
configuration. The host is queried only when tape drives are added or updated through
this page. Host information:
− The host location, SAC name or CLIM ID
− The tape device name associated to the port and LUN/Target ids presented by
the VTC

VT Controller ID: Identifies the VTC. Must be unique and cannot be changed
once added.
Physical Location: Optional information field that describes where the BackBox
unit is physically installed.
TCP/IP Address: TCP/IP address or TCP/IP Host name used by the Domain
Manager to communicate with the VT Controller.
If the license key has restrictions on the allowed VTCs, either this TCPIP address
or the Host Name returned by the VTC must match one VTC entry in the license
key.
Comments: Optional information field.
Enable VT Controller: If not checked, the VTC will be ignored in all tape operations.
Essentially, it will never be chosen to load a volume when processing a mount request
and will not be included in the Status page.
